The camera captured the wonderful movements of beautiful flies, which look like “choreographies”, in Lake Kerkini.
At least 300 species of birds have been observed in Lake Kerkini and the mountains surrounding it. Of these, 50 are included in the Red List of Birds of Greece.
Together, ten species of birds nest in mixed colonies in the riparian forest, in significant numbers for Greece and Europe.
Lake Kerkini is located in the northwestern part of Serres prefecture and is one of the ten wetlands of international importance in Greece. It was created in 1932, with the construction of a dam on the Struma River, near the village of Lithotopos.
