Emmy Awards: 15-year-old Owen Cooper becomes the youngest winner
English actor Owen Cooper has made history as the youngest recipient of an Emmy Award for Best Actor, thanks to his performance as Jamie Miller in the Netflix miniseries “Adolescence.”
The 15-year-old actor shone brighter than heavyweights such as Javier Bardem, Rob Delaney, and Peter Sarsgaard, clinching one of the most prestigious awards in television.
Upon receiving his Emmy, an elated Owen shared, “Being here is simply incredible. When I first started acting classes a few years ago, I never even dreamed I’d be here in the US, much less accepting this award.”
“What I’m trying to say is, if you’re willing to listen, focus, and step out of your comfort zone, you can accomplish anything. Three years ago, I was a nobody. Now I’m standing here. Don’t be afraid to feel a little awkward,” he added.
