All the times I had been to the Monastery of Chora (the Land of the Living, the land of the living), the Chapel was closed. Sometimes for repairs, sometimes for restoration. I saw it now, all the time next door, in the main part of the monument, under the dizziness of the mosaics, Muslims were praying. We were going in when they were finished.
Rarely does one see so many masterpieces assembled, with such vividness, density and intensity, so well preserved.
